Significant event to report: Decision of the Board of Directors of SNN on postponing the scheduled outage of Unit 1 of Cernavoda NPP

SN Nuclearelectrica SA informs its shareholders and shareholders on the decision of the Board of Directors of SNN, convened in the meeting of April 06, 2020, to postpone the scheduled outage of Unit 1 of Cernavoda NPP.

The decision to postpone the scheduled outage of Unit 1 of Cernavoda NPP was determined by the current context of the COVID-19 pandemic corroborated with the measures related to the Plan of ensuring the protection of the personnel and continuing the operation and production.

Usually, scheduled outages of nuclear units are performed alternatively, once every two years for each unit, in May-June, for approximately 30 days. As the preparation of a scheduled outage represents a complex investment project by the involved logistical structure, contracting and personnel, the Board of Directors decided to postpone the outage of Unit 1 for a period that would allow the implementation of the project without association with the risk of COVID-19 contamination.

The measure of the scheduled outage, in this period, is a common practice for the nuclear plants that use the CANDU technology.

The new scheduled outage period will be set based on an internal analysis of all impact factors.

SNN will issue, after the internal analysis, a current report regarding the exact period when the scheduled outage is to be performed.

Postponing the scheduled outage of Unit 1 of Cernavoda NPP does not affect the maintenance of a high level of nuclear security and operation efficiency, and the production will take place under normal parameters.
